MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat is once again capping electricity power prices, though residents will see a slight reduction in what they pay for natural gas.

The city released its utility rates for the month of December on Monday. Residents will pay 6.8 cents per kilowatt hour for electricity in December.

Starting this year, the province announced a cap on electricity rates in Medicine Hat, meaning residents will not pay more than 6.8 cents per kilowatt hour. Without the price cap in place, residents would be paying 7.5 cents per kilowatt hour.

Natural gas has seen a drop in price compared to November. Residents will be paying $1.969 per gigajoule, down from $2.285 in November.
