MEDICINE HAT, AB — A Medicine Hat man arrested more than two years ago following a large investigation into child pornography in southern Alberta has pleaded guilty.

Stefan Mogck appeared in Medicine Hat provincial court on Thursday, where he entered guilty pleas to charges of possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography. A third charge of accessing child pornography was withdrawn, according to Medicine Hat provincial court.

He received a jail sentence of two years less a day, followed by two years of probation. Mogck will also have to register as a sex offender.

Mogck was among 10 people in southern Alberta arrested and charged in 2016 as part of Operation Ice Storm 3, an investigation initiated by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
