Oct 8, 2018 | 12:21 PM

CRANBROOK, B.C. – The Medicine Hat Tigers are playing their best hockey of the young WHL season and they’ll be looking to keep up that momentum on Monday night for a Thanksgiving tilt with the Kootenay ICE.

Picking up a 2-0 shutout victory over the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, the Tigers have won two straight games and are going for a sweep of their three-game road trip.

They’ll also be facing off against former Tiger and Medicine Hat product Jaeger White, who was moved to Kootenay back in August in exchange for a conditional draft pick.

Tigers vs. ICE

This will be the first meeting of these two Central Division rivals this season. The Tigers and the ICE will face off 6 times this year. Since the 2013-14 season, these two familiar foes have met 34 times with the Tabbies posting a 25-8-1-0 record against the ICE. The last time the Tigers took on the ICE was March 4, 2018, with the Tigers winning 4-3-

View from Kootenay

The Kootenay ICE are 2-2-0-0 so far this season and have most recently defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings in a 5-4 shootout Friday night. After tonight’s tilt, the ICE will host the Regina Pats Oct 12th, travel to Medicine Hat for a rematch Oct 13th and return home to host the Prince George Cougars Oct 14th. Veteran forward Peyton Krebs is leading his team with 7 points (2G, 5A) in 4 games.

Tigers Talent

Gary Haden is a hard-working, two way forward in his third season with the Orange and Black. The 19-year-old Airdrie native has the ability to capitalize on his own chances and the ability to distribute the puck to his teammates. He is a utility player who has been called upon in the past to play defence as well. Look for Haden to create scoring lanes and drive to the net in tonight’s tilt.

Captain’s Corner

James Hamblin is in his fourth season with the Tigers and was selected by his peers to lead the team this season. The 19-year-old Edmonton product was the Tabbies’ first-round pick in 2014 and has played 202 games for the Orange and Black amassing 123 points (50G, 73A). The hard-working, two-way forward leads his team by example with his team first mentality. Hamblin is currently also leading his team as the top point producer with 8 points (4G, 4A) in 8 games played so far this season
