MEDICINE HAT, AB — The City of Medicine Hat is assisting Calgary with its current snowfall.

With the city receiving a large amount of snow on Tuesday, they’ve reached out to other communities for assistance.

Crews from Edmonton, Red Deer, Okotoks and Medicine Hat are travelling to Calgary, bringing equipment to help clear the streets.

Merrick Brown, director of health, safety, environment and emergency management with the city, says they’ve sent two snow graters and three sanding trucks to Calgary, along with operators for each vehicle.

“We want to try and do our best to support our local municipalities in their time of need,” he said. “We would hope that they would do the same for us. I know the tough situation that they’re in. We’ve been in situations where we needed help. We’re happy to support them.”

The crews will be in Calgary until Friday.

Brown adds if the situation in our city changes, the workers would be called back to help out.
