MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat College Rattlers are once again stepping away from the court to help people in the community.

For the second year in a row, the Rattlers are participating in the Rattlers Athletic Leadership Initiative (RALI). The program sees members of the team helping out as volunteers through the community.

“We want to help create a big society change and be positive in the community,” said Jordan Fauth, a member of the women’s soccer team who is one of the executive members of RALI.

Last year, the Rattlers put in more than 5,000 hours of volunteer work, ranging from coaching elementary age kids to helping people move into a new home.

Several events are already planned this year.

More than 30 Rattlers will be helping out at the River Run at Elm Street School on Friday, running with the students. On Sunday, members of the soccer team will be volunteering at the Medicine Hat and District Food Bank.

Fauth says RALI is a way of saying thank you to those who support the Rattlers.

“The community really supports us a lot,” she said. “They come to all of our games and come watch us. Even the Jingle and Mingle, they’re coming and helping with our scholarships and helping us out. We want to help out the community as much as we possibly can.”
