Southwest region leads Saskatchewan harvest progress

REGINA, SK — Saskatchewan farmers made good progress in the harvest during the past week despite some scattered rain.

Provincial crops analyst Daphne Cruise says 58 per cent of the crop is in the bin, up from 39 per cent last week.

The southwest corner of the province is still the leader when it comes to progress, with 82 per cent completion.

But the lack of moisture remains a major concern, with further deterioration of top soil moisture in the last week.

Only 4 per cent of cropland top soil moisture is rated as adequate with just 2 per cent for hayland and pasture top soil moisture conditions.
