Strike ends at CAE Inc. in Montreal after workers accept new agreement

Jul 26, 2018 | 2:00 AM

MONTREAL — Nearly 475 unionized CAE Inc. employees in Montreal return to work today after voting in favour of a new contract.

Unifor Local 522 says its members voted 83 per cent this week to accept a tentative agreement with the flight simulator and training company.

The union says the new deal will run for four years, with a possible one-year extension upon completion of $7 million investment in the company’s St-Laurent, Que. factory.

The agreement includes a salary increase of 14.5 per cent over the life of the contract.

Unifor Quebec director Renaud Gagne says the company’s offer was 11.5 per cent when a strike began last month.

The strike began on June 22 after the workers rejecting a company offer by 93 per cent.
