HIGH RIVER, AB – For the second straight series, the Medicine Hat Sun Devils will need a big Sunday effort to keep their season alive after dropping the opener of the South Division semi-finals.

Facing off against the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League’s top squad, the Sun Devils dropped a 15-7 decision against the High River Heat in Game 1 of their series.

After trailing by only a handful of goals after the first period, Medicine Hat allowed six goals in the middle frame to trail 9-2 heading to the third.

Despite a late comeback attempt, the Heat were still able to hold on for the Game 1 victory and can advance to the RMLL South finals on Sunday.

Zack Wilson and Aiden McLean both had multi-goal efforts in the loss, while Noah Weimer and captain Damon Phillips also found the score sheet.

Looking to stave off elimination for the second consecutive round, the Sun Devils will need to win Game 2 on Sunday afternoon in High River to keep their season alive.

If Medicine Hat is able to pull off a win in Game 2, a 10-minute mini-game will be played between the Sun Devils and the Heat to decide who will advance.

The winner of this series will face the Red Deer Renegades in the South final, after Red Deer swept the Sylvan Lake Yettis in two games.
