MPs AGREE TO SUMMER STUDY OF ASYLUM SEEKERS
The House of Commons immigration committee has agreed to meet at least twice before early August to study the issue of asylum seekers crossing the border from the U.S. Members agreed during a rare summer session Monday to review the federal response to the irregular border crossers, inviting testimony from Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen and other cabinet ministers. Conservative immigration critic Michelle Rempel and her NDP counterpart, Jenny Kwan, have been pushing the Liberals to reveal more about their plan to deal with the influx of border crossers.
