Canadian Rebecca Marino advances to Winnipeg Challenger final
WINNIPEG — Rebecca Marino’s comeback season continues to yield impressive results.
The 27-year-old Vancouver tennis player, who returned to the sport this year after almost five years off, has advanced to the final of the US$25,000 Winnipeg National Bank Challenger.
Marino beat No. 7 seed Victoria Rodriguez of Mexico 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 in a semifinal on Saturday.
Once ranked No. 38 in the world, Marino walked away from tennis in 2013 after revealing her battle with depression.
