Man charged following Humboldt Broncos bus crash to make first court appearance on Tuesday

REGINA, SASK. — The driver facing 29 charges in connection with the deadly Humboldt Broncos crash will make his first court appearance on Tuesday.

RCMP in Saskatchewan announced Monday morning that Jaskirat Sidhu, 29, will appear in Melfort Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m.

Sidhu, who is from Calgary, was charged three months to the day following the deadly collision between a semi truck and the Humboldt Broncos team bus bear Armley, Saskatchewan on April 6.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 35 and Highway 355. The Broncos were en route to Nipawin for a SJHL playoff game. The crash killed 16 people on the bus, including 10 players, and injured 13 others.
