Alouettes pick Johnstone in supplemental draft, forfeit 1st round pick in 2019
The Montreal Alouettes have selected offensive lineman Tyler Johnstone in the supplemental draft, forfeiting their first round pick in the 2019 CFL draft, the team announced Monday.
The 25-year-old starred at the University of Oregon following his high school career in Arizona.
The six-foot-six, 275-pound Johnstone attended the 2016 NFL combine and was bypassed in the draft before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers. But a stress fracture landed him on injured reserve for the year before reaching an injury settlement with the club.
“We are thrilled to have acquired Tyler’s rights,” said Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed.
