MEDICINE HAT, AB – A four-game win streak came to an end on Saturday night for the Medicine Hat Sun Devils, dropping their final home game of the regular season.

Facing the powerhouse High River Heat, the Sun Devils were hoping to avenge a 12-5 loss against the Heat back on May 13.

Medicine Hat opened the scoring just 33 seconds into the contest, as sniper Zack Wilson buried one into the back of the net.

After some back and forth action it was Tegan Rogal tying up the game at 3-3 late in the period, but High River scored with 26 seconds left in the period to take a 4-3 lead into the intermission.

Seven minutes into the second period, Aidan McLean netted his 36th goal of the season to make it a 4-4 contest and give some momentum back to the Sun Devils.

High River turned up the intensity however with two more goals before the end of the frame, jumping ahead 6-4 heading to the third period.

The Sun Devils came within a single goal early in the third following Wilson’s hat-trick marker, but High River scored four of the next five goals to take a stranglehold of the game and a 10-6 victory.

The loss breaks over a month straight of wins for Medicine Hat, with their last loss coming back in May against the Heat.

Moving to a 10-7 mark on the season, the Sun Devils have two games left before Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League playoffs.

They hit the road for Calgary on Saturday with a date against the Wranglers, before heading down the Trans-Canada Highway to wind up the regular season versus the Strathmore Venom next Sunday.
