Strathmore RCMP arrest Brooks man following traffic stop

STRATHMORE, AB — Strathmore RCMP arrested a Brooks man following a traffic stop this weekend where cocaine was allegedly seized.

Officers received a complaint regarding an erratic driver on the Trans-Canada Highway on Saturday. The vehicle was located as it entered Strathmore town limits, and RCMP initiated a traffic stop. The driver was arrested without incident.

RCMP allegedly located and seized approximately 250 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle.

Yonas Negussie, 25, has been charged with impaired driving by drug, breach of conditions and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He remains in custody and will appear in provincial court on June 19.
