Unemployment rate falls in city and region in May

Medicine Hat, AB. – Unemployment continues to fall in Medicine Hat and also within the Medicine Hat and Lethbridge region.
Stats Canada says the rate for the city last month was 5.1 per cent. A year ago it was 6.2 per cent. The rate for April this year was 6.7 per cent – but Stats Canada cautions against month to month comparisons because of a small sample size.
Regionally, the unemployment rate was 5.2 per cent , down from 6 per cent in April.

Alberta’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.2 per cent. It had been 6.7 per cent in April.
