Brooks byelection set for August 16

BROOKS, AB — A byelection date to replace a council vacancy in the City of Brooks has been set.

Residents of Brooks will go to the polls on August 16 to elect a new councillor. The byelection comes after Councillor Michael Glynn Macdonald announced he was resigning from his position for personal reasons last month.

Nomination day has been set for July 17, 2018 from 8:15 a.m. to noon at City Hall. Nomination packages will be available at City Hall and at www.brooks.ca starting Friday.

An advance vote will take place at City Hall from 10 a.m – 6 p.m. on August 11.

Voting on August 16 will take place in the Cenovus Flex Hall at the JBS Canada Centre from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. The city has also set up institutional voting stations for residents of the Brooks Health Centre Extended Care, Newbrook Lodge, Orchard Manor, Pioneer Villa Courts and Sunrise Gardens to cast their ballots.
