Medicine Hat Airport set to reopen

May 31, 2018 | 1:38 PM

MEDICINE HAT – The Medicine Hat Regional Airport is set to reopen Thursday night.

For the past month, the airport’s runway has been closed for maintenance and repairs.

Crews have been working 16 hour days to remove the old pavement surface, doing some upgrading work to the subsurface, and repaving the landing strip.

While no planes have been able to take off or land at the airport during construction, maintenance and administrative staff, air traffic control, Avis Car Rental, Air Canada counter staff and the Front Porch Cafe have all remained open.

HALO Air Rescue has also still been able to launch its helicopter from the airport.

The airport will reopen at 10 P.M. and the first flight will land on the runway just after midnight.
