MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Fire Department is calling the cause of last week’s fire in the light industrial area as undetermined.

Fire investigators have been combing the scene of Bamboo Innovations and Deadbolt Construction on 18th Street SW over the last few days, and have been unable to determine an official cause for the fire.

Sparked on Wednesday night, the fire was contained to the one building but gutted the family-owned business to the tune of $400,000 in damages.

According to Fire Prevention Officer Carter Gramlich, they believe the fire started indoors in the back shop area of the building and quickly spread to the rest of the business.

However, they believe the fire was completely accidental and there is no connection between this fire and the RedHat Co-op blaze over the weekend.

A GoFundMe page set up to assist the owners of the business, JoDana Tokamp and Dustin Tizzard has surpassed $5,800 as of Monday night.

If you would like to donate to the couple, you can visit the GoFundMe page that is still online.
