SWIFT CURRENT, SASK. —RCMP in Swift Current have laid charges against a 42-year-old pilot following a small plane crash on Tuesday.

According to a news release, RCMP and the Swift Current Fire Department were called to a field on the north side of the Trans-Canada highway, approximately 4 kilometres west of the city, at 7:30 p.m.

A small Cessna passenger plane had gone down in a field after using a grid road to take off. The plane clipped some trees and hit the ground after travelling less than two kilometres.

Two men were in the plane at the time, and suffered minor injuries.

The fire department plugged a small fuel leak at the scene, and no other dangerous goods were observed.

Calvin Pahl, the pilot and owner of the plane, has been charged with one count of impaired operation of a plane. Pahl has been released from custody, and appears in Swift Current provincial court on June 27.
