Small explosion reported at CF Industries

MEDICINE HAT — CHAT TV News has learned there was a small explosion Monday afternoon at CF Industries. 

Fire crews from Medicine Hat responded to the incident around 5:30 p.m.

Details are limited, but one person was injured and sent to hospital. 

Firefighters said when they arrived at the scene, the situation had stablized. At this point, there is no risk to the public.

CHAT News has reached out to CF Industries for comment.

Update at 5 am April 24

CF Industries Holdings has confirmed that there was an incident involving a boiler at it’s Nitrogen Complex in Medicine Hat late Monday afternoon.

The company says the area is secure and there were no offsite impacts from the incident.

All individuals who were on the site have been accounted for, and one CF Industries employee was transported to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
