MEDICINE HAT, AB — The tax rate for 2018 in Medicine Hat has been set by city council.

During Monday’s council meeting, councillors voted to increase taxes by 3.25 per cent for single family home owners.

For a home worth approximately $266,000, homeowners will pay $68 more per year.

Individual homeowners will see various amounts depending on the change in their property assessment.

For multi-family housing, the tax rate is going up five per cent.

Non-residential properties, however, will see a 0.77 per cent decrease.

The city will begin mailing out tax notices next month.

Taxes will be due on July 3.
