Tigers clinch playoff spot

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers are officially in the playoffs.

The team announced on Monday they had clinched a playoff spot for the 15th time in the past 16 seasons.

The Tigers join the Swift Current Broncos and the Moose Jaw Warriors as the only teams from the Eastern Conference to have qualified for the playoffs. In the Western Conference, the Everett Silvertips, Portland Winterhawks and Kelowna Rockets have all clinched playoff spots.

The Central Division, however, is still up for grabs. The Tigers currently lead the division with 70 points, and sit four points ahead of the Lethbridge Hurricanes for the top spot.

The Tigers are on the road Tuesday, playing a rare morning game against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Puck drop is at 11:30 a.m.
