City seeking feedback on future of Riverside neighbourhood

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat residents can help plan the Riverside neighbourhood’s future.

The city is hosting a public consultation tonight at Bridge Church (350 First Avenue NE) from 4-8 p.m. to get feedback on the area redevelopment plan for the neighbourhood.

Riverside School recently closed its doors, and the neighbourhood has also lost Heald Pool, after city council voted to close it last December as a cost-savings measure.

The city held the first open house on the neighbourhood in March. Feedback presented from that open house included support for more recreation alternatives, including a spray park or pickleball courts, along with improved trail connections. Full feedback presented at the March open house, along with information about the neighbourhood plan, can be found online at www.medicinehat.ca/riverside .

For those unable to attend the open house, the city will also begin a survey starting Friday, which is available here.

A news release from the city says the feedback will help shape the plan for the neighbourhood as it moves forward.
