Two arrested and charged following truck theft

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Two people were arrested and are facing charges after police found them a stolen truck this week.

On Thursday, the Medicine Hat Police Service received information about an individual suspected of being in possession of a 2017 Ford F-150, which was reported stolen earlier in the week.

The priority street crime unit investigated and observed the suspect getting into the vehicle near 9th Street SW and Gershaw Drive. Police followed the vehicle and when ti stopped, took two people into custody.

Police also recovered a small amount of methamphetamine from the truck.

Ryan Lee Bowden of Medicine Hat has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. The Medicine Hat man was also charged with a number of provincial traffic offences. He remains in custody until a court appearance on June 13.

A 26 year old woman was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. She is still awaiting the results of a bail hearing.

Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles at all times, and ensure there are no valuables inside, as a result of an increase in property crimes.
