Nearly 200 more cases of the flu confirmed

EDMONTON, AB — The flu is continuing to take its toll on the health of Albertans.

According to the latest numbers released from Alberta Health Services, in the last week nearly 200 more cases of the flu were confirmed.

A total of 3,205 cases of the flu have been reported across the province this flu season, 262 of those were in the south health zone which includes Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

1,080 Albertans have been so sick they’ve had to be hospitalized. Across the province 41 people have died of the flu, seven of those deaths have occurred in the south zone.

AHS said influenza activity appears to have peaked in the Calgary, Edmonton and South Zones. Influenza A (H3N2) continues to be the predominant strain.
