LETHBRIDGE – A fire at the Phase 2 section of the ATB Centre in Lethbridge Sunday night caused an estimated $15,000 in initial damage, but engineers will need to do a thorough examination of the structure.

Three stations responded just after 6:00 p.m. and crews were able to quickly extinguished the fire with no injuries reported.

Phase 1 of ATB Centre, which houses two ice rinks and a curling rink, was not impacted by the fire and no evacuation was required.

Initial investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. According to officials, a heating lamp was left on.
