Many ways to ring in the New Year in city

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Hatters have several options to help ring in the New Year on Saturday.

The Parks and Recreation department with the city will host a variety of New Year’s activities from 5-8 p.m. at the Family Leisure Centre. Admission is $2 per person.

Attendees can go skating, take part in obstacle courses in the fieldhouse, play pickleball, learn wheelchair basketball, make crafts and enjoy hot dogs and hot chocolate while supplies last.

The centre will also be hosting free swimming featuring the Blue Mountain Waterslide, though tickets for swimming must be picked up to maintain capacity levels. Swim times are scheduled from 5- 6: 20 p.m. and 6:40 – 8 p.m.

A special New Year’s Eve countdown will take place in the main lobby at 7:30 p.m.

Redcliff Harmony Hall (1- First Street SE) is hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner and dance. The event gets underway with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Followed by a roast beef dinner. The Medicine Hat Lodge is also hosting its Great Gastby New Year’s Eve Gala on Saturday. The event includes dinnfer, comedy, party favours, champagne and dancing. The event begins at 6 p.m. And runs until 2 a.m., and 1920’s attire is encouraged. A few tickets remain for the event. Those interested can call 403-502-8193 for more information.

The Lodge is also hosting a New Year’s Eve party in Elements Lounge at 6 p.m. There is no cover charge for the event.
