MEDICINE HAT, AB — A 19 year old man suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle Thursday night.

The collision occurred at Dunmore Road and Ravine Drive at approximately 6:30 p.m. Medicine Hat police say the man was walking in the ditch on Dunmore Road when he was struck by a Pontia Firebird.

Police say the driver of the Pontiac failed to negotiate the bend in the road, causing him to go off it. Further investigation revealed the driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, was under the influence of alcohol. Police also believe excessive speed was a contributing factor.

Police say the incident is under investigation and more charges could be laid against the driver.
