SPRUCE GROVE, AB — RCMP in Spruce Grove continue to investigate after an apparent murder-suicide which took the lives of two young boys.

Mounties says a father and his two sons, aged 13 and 11, were found dead in a home on Spruce Court Monday with their father, Corry MacDougall. The boys have been identified as Radek, 13, and Ryder MacDougall, by Brent Stark, their step-father.

Stark and his wife Tracy, the mother of the boys, discovered the bodies Monday morning when they went to pick them up to take them to Whitecourt for Christmas.

Stark believes MacDougall killed his sons before taking his own life.

Stark, who is owner of the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, said his stepsons were competitive hockey players in Spruce Grove.

RCMP has not confirmed any information, and say they are not seeking any other suspects in the deaths.

Police officers could be seen removing guns from the home and one officer said they were being taken in as evidence, but wouldn’t confirm whether they had anything to do with the incident.

Autopsies for the deceased were scheduled for Tuesday.

Greystone Centennial Middle School, the school the boys attended, has brought in a trauma team to assist students.
