Travelodge Cubs win first game of playoffs

STRATHMORE, AB — The Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs have a chance to clinch their playoff series at home following their game one victory Tuesday night.

The Cubs topped the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 2-0 in the first of a a best-of-three playoff series in Strathmore.

Brett Vanderveer stopped all 31 shots he faced for the Cubs during the game.

Noah Irvine had a goal and assist for the cubs during the game, while Tristan Stensrud had a single goal for the Cubs. Chandler Aleman, Fletcher Aleman and Joshua Schafer had assists during the game.

The Cubs can move onto the next round on Thursday when they play host to the Wheatland Kings at the Kinplex. The game begins at 8:15 p.m.

If a third game is needed, it will take place in Strathmore on Saturday at 8 p.m.
