Medicine Hat launches quarterly newsletter from City Manager

Nov 3, 2026 | 12:59 PM

The City of Medicine Hat has launched a quarterly newsletter aimed at giving residents more insight into municipal priorities, projects and services.

The City Manager Newsletter will feature updates from City Manager Joseph Hutter on major initiatives, organizational priorities and municipal services, along with stories highlighting employees and the work they do across the organization.

“Municipal government is about people,” said Hutter in a statement from the City.

“Every day, hundreds of employees work behind the scenes to keep our community safe, maintain critical infrastructure, deliver services and advance projects that support Medicine Hat’s future,” he added.

“Through this newsletter, I hope residents will not only gain insight into the decisions and priorities shaping our city but also develop a greater understanding of the people whose work helps make Medicine Hat a great place to live, work and do business.”

Hutter said the newsletter will also highlight the connection between municipal employees and the community.

“Our employees are members of this community first and foremost,” Hutter said.

“They are our neighbours, coaches, volunteers and community builders. By sharing more of their stories and the work they do, we can help residents better understand the complexity of municipal services and the role local government plays in supporting quality of life in Medicine Hat.”

The first edition is available online at medicinehat.ca/news/city-manager-newsletter.

The newsletter will be published quarterly and distributed digitally to anyone who subscribes to the City’s emails.
