Medicine Hat residents will see a slight increase in the default natural gas rate this month.

The City of Medicine Hat has set its November rate at $2.008 per gigajoule, up from $1.907 in October.

The default electricity rate for residential, farm and small and medium commercial customers remains at the minimum of seven cents per kilowatt-hour.

The calculated rate was 4.19 cents per kilowatt-hour, but the city’s utility bylaw sets a minimum rate of seven cents.

Large commercial, industrial and street lighting customers will pay 12.025 cents per kilowatt-hour, unchanged through the end of December.

The city’s Going Green surcharge, which helps cover the cost of renewable energy purchases, is five-tenths of a cent per kilowatt-hour in November.
