The Medicine Hat Tigers didn’t have the start they were hoping for to their U.S. Division road trip, falling 7-2 to the Wenatchee Wild.

Three goals in 82 seconds helped power the WiId to a 4-0 first period lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

The Tigers found goals from Liam Ruck and Luke Cozens in the loss.

Ruck scored his third of the year on the powerplay, while Cozens scored his eighth of the year as the Tigers second powerplay of the night expired.

Cash Christie got the start but was pulled late in the first period after allowing his third goal on 12 shots.

Carter Casey would play the final 43 minutes, making 24 saves.

Wild netminder Carsten Leyerzapf had a great night in goal, turning aside 36 shots in his second win of the season.

The Tigers encountered penalty trouble, going to the kill seven times but only allowed one tally against with a man in the box.

The powerplay was a bright spot as well, nearly going two for two, with the Cozens goal coming simultaneous to the expiration of their second man-advantage.

Wenatchee saw a pair of goals from Levi Benson and Mathias Saliban, while Rui Han, Zane Torre, and Caelan Joudrey each added singles.

The Tigers continue their road trip Friday night against the red-hot Spokane Chiefs.
