Six virtual workshops

Upcoming virtual workshops to help Southern Albertans manage chronic pain

Oct 23, 2026 | 12:26 PM

Southern Albertans living with chronic pain can learn strategies to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life through an upcoming virtual workshop series.

The Better Choices, Better Health program runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday from Oct. 28 to Dec. 9, with no session scheduled for Remembrance Day.

The workshops are designed for people living with chronic pain, as well as their family members and loved ones, focusing on practical tools to help participants manage the day-to-day challenges of living with an ongoing health condition.

Topics include techniques for managing pain symptoms, tips for healthy eating and becoming more active, and strategies for communicating with health-care teams.

Participants will also learn ways to cope with difficult emotions, make everyday tasks easier and take care of themselves.

The program focuses on approaches that can be useful across different chronic pain conditions, rather than addressing one specific diagnosis.

Sessions are led by trained volunteers, many of whom also live with chronic pain.

Organizers say the lived-experience approach helps create a supportive environment where participants can learn from people who understand the challenges of managing a long-term condition.

The series aims to give participants practical skills they can use in their daily lives to better manage their health.

Southern Alberta residents can register by calling 1-866-795-9709.
