Medicine Hat records Canada’s hottest temperature on Tuesday

Medicine Hat was Canada’s hottest spot on Tuesday, with a 28.1 C record at the airport weather station in the afternoon.

Environment Canada senior meteorologist Matt Albers said an unofficial station at nearby Etzikom also reached 28.1 C.

The daily record for Sept. 22 was safe on Tuesday, as the temperature was still 4.1 C below the 32.2 C mark set 141 years ago in 1885.

Tuesday’s high also didn’t quite match the warmest temperature in the city in September. Medicine Hat reached a high of 31.7 C on Sept. 1.
