The Brooks Bandits are bringing a former standout back to the organization, adding Pierce Charleson to their scouting staff.

Charleson played two seasons with the Bandits before competing for five seasons in NCAA Division I hockey and one season in the ECHL.

He is now transitioning into coaching and player development at St. Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ont.

Bandits general manager Wayne Labrie said Charleson’s familiarity with the organization, combined with his playing and coaching experience, makes him a strong addition to the staff.

“We’re extremely excited to have Pierce back with the Bandits. He understands our program, our culture and what it means to be a Bandit,” Labrie said in a statement from the team.

“His experience as a player, combined with five years of Division I hockey, professional hockey and now coaching, gives him a tremendous foundation as a scout.”

Labrie said Charleson fits with the organization’s plans for its scouting and player-development operations.

“We believe Pierce is an excellent fit for where our program is headed and for what we’re looking to add to our scouting and player-development staff moving forward,” Labrie said.

During his two seasons in Brooks, Charleson, a former netminder, posted a 78-12-2 record and helped the Bandits win a national championship in 2019.

Charleson said he is looking forward to returning to the organization.

“I’m excited to rejoin the organization that has given me so much throughout my career, and ready to continue building the winning tradition in Brooks,” Charleson said in a statement from the team.

The Bandits begin the pre-season on Sept. 8, hosting the Spruce Grove Saints.
