Proposed defence hub could connect Southeast Alberta businesses with military
A proposed regional defence innovation hub could connect southeastern Alberta businesses with the military and help companies navigate procurement, security and access requirements.
The concept was discussed on Tuesday at Medicine Hat College during a regional workshop focused on expanding southeastern Alberta’s role in Canada’s defence sector.
The proposed hub would act as a link between military representatives, government, industry and other organizations, with the goal of making it easier for companies to identify military needs and develop or test solutions.
Marty Gartry, a contractor with Medicine Hat College’s Centre for Innovation, said his previous experience working at the former Canadian Forces Base Suffield exposed him to some of the challenges surrounding military procurement.
