T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend celebrates 35 years since Scotty’s discovery
The T. rex Discovery Centre in Eastend is marking a major anniversary this weekend, celebrating 35 years since Scotty, the world’s largest known T. rex, was discovered in southwestern Saskatchewan.
Scotty was unearthed on Aug. 16, 1991, by high school principal Robert Gebhardt during a prospecting expedition with paleontologists from the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.
The discovery took place in the Frenchman Formation along the Frenchman River Valley near Eastend.
The T. rex Discovery Centre will celebrate Scotty Unearthed Day on Sunday with several dinosaur-themed activities.
