City of Medicine Hat releases public feedback report on Riverside corridor project

The City says the purpose of the engagement was to give decision-makers a clear understanding of community perspectives and the trade-offs associated with different design options.

Pat Bohan, the City’s managing director of development and infrastructure, said the public response reflected a range of perspectives and priorities.

“Public feedback throughout the process reflected a wide range of perspectives shaped by different experiences, priorities, and expectations for the Riverside Corridor,” Bohan said in a statement.

“The remarkable level of engagement and quantity of feedback received throughout this process highlights how deeply the community cares about the future of Riverside,” he added.

“We are grateful to everyone who took part and helped make this one of our most thorough and well-rounded public engagement initiatives to date.”

The City emphasized that no decisions have been made on the project design.

With the report now complete, administration is reviewing the feedback. It will develop options for City Council to consider for design approval.

Those options are expected to come before council in the near future.

The City has also prepared an updated frequently asked questions document addressing common topics and concerns raised during the engagement process.

Residents can review the What We Heard Report and other project information through the City’s Shape Your City website.

The City is also asking residents to complete a five-minute survey to help staff evaluate the public engagement process.
