Kin Coulee basketball court reopens following major upgrades

Jul 31, 2026 | 10:55 AM

The newly upgraded basketball court at Kin Coulee Park has reopened to the public ahead of the August long weekend following a construction project completed through a partnership between the City of Medicine Hat and the Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club.

The project transformed the former half-court into a full regulation-size basketball court while also expanding the nearby parking lot to nearly double its previous size.

New court lighting has also been installed, allowing the facility to remain accessible later into the evening.

The upgrades were supported by a $125,000 grant secured by the Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club through the Alberta government’s Community Facility Enhancement Program.

City officials thanked the Kinsmen Club for its partnership and commitment to improving recreational opportunities in the community.

With construction fencing now removed, the court is open for public use.

Residents are encouraged to visit the upgraded facility and take advantage of the other amenities available at Kin Coulee Park.
