The third weekend of June is here, and it’s a busy weekend in and around Medicine Hat, including Father’s Day on Sunday.

Environment Canada has Friday as sunny, then becoming a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon with a high of 23 C. In the evening, it’s expected to be partly cloudy, then clear with a low of 12 C.

On Saturday, the sky is expected to be sunny in the morning and then early afternoon, a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon and a risk of a thunderstorm. Wind gusts of up to 60 km/h near noon and a high of 27 C. The evening looks to have clouds in the sky with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a low of 11 C.

The projection for Sunday is sunny with a high of 19 C. Then turning to a cloudy sky with a 60 per cent chance of showers in the evening and a low of 9 C.

🎷 2026 Medicine Hat Jazz Fest

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The 30th edition of JazzFest in Medicine Hat is set to run from June 19 to 21, bringing a mix of local and international jazz performances to venues across the city.

Main performances take place at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre.

The festival will feature free and ticketed events, club shows, workshops, a community jam, and the new Medalta Dance Party, along with performances from artists including Kristin Korb, Jason Marsalis, Mary Ancheta, Ron Di Lauro Sextet, François Bourassa, Robert Lee, The Ostara Project, Klave Latin Band, and The Ray Charles Tribute Orchestra.

All outdoor performances will have nearby indoor backup venues in place in case of weather, ensuring shows proceed rain or shine.

Organizers say the festival continues to celebrate world-class jazz during its milestone 30th year.

Youth Ticket remains available for anyone 25 and under at $20 per event, while general passes are priced at $160, and a youth pass costs $80.

The Medalta Dance Party is at Medalta on Saturday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will feature performances by the Sierra Hager Fusion Project, Klave Latin Band and the Ray Charles Tribute Orchestra.

🏷 Garage Sale at Medicine Hat Legion

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Legion will be hosting a Massive Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.  Hundreds of items will be available. Lunch will also be available, with a hot dog and pop for $5. All ages are welcome. The Medicine Hat Legion is located at 702 2nd Street SE.

🥳️ Redcliff Days

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Redcliff Days returns this weekend, with three days of community events scheduled across the town from June 19 to 21.

Friday: Festivities begin with a community-wide garage sale and sidewalk sale running all day. Families can take part in an AHS Bike Safety Rodeo from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rec-Tangle parking lot, featuring bike tune-ups, helmet fittings and an obstacle course.

Public swimming is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Redcliff Aquatic Centre, followed by a movie night in Lions Park at 9:30 p.m.

The movie GOAT – Greatest of All Time will be shown as part of the first outdoor movie night of the year. The free screening invites residents to bring lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, family and friends for an evening under the stars.

Saturday: Kicking off the day includes a pancake breakfast at the Redcliff Legion from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by a full day of activities, including the Lions Show and Shine in Lions Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., a book sale at the Redcliff Public Library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a community-wide garage sale running from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents can take part in the Kids Zone in Memorial Park, Nerf Wars at the Rec-Tangle Arena, main stage entertainment, the Something for Everyone Market on Broadway Avenue, food trucks and eateries throughout town, and a scooter show on Broadway Avenue.

Fire apparatus tours are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a free public swim from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. The Herman Wahl Memorial Cruise begins at 4:15 p.m., while evening festivities include the Whoozapalooza Street Party and beer gardens from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., a sock hop at Harmony Hall from 6 p.m. to midnight and live music by Redcliff Hylton from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The day concludes with fireworks at 10:30 p.m., which can be viewed from Lions Park.

Sunday: Wraps-ups Redcliff Days with a cricket match and participation demonstration beginning at 9 a.m., additional public swimming opportunities and an exhibition soccer game at the Redcliff Soccer Field starting at 4 p.m.

Organizers have also released event maps and detailed schedules on the Town of Redcliff website.

🏁 At the Racetracks

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association hosts Fridays Street Legals. Drive your car, truck, motorcycle, or daily driver down the 1/4 mile track. No race car required. Just bring your ride, helmet, your friends, and your need for speed. Gates open at 4 p.m., Tech is at 5 p.m., Racing starts 7 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. $15 cost, 12 and under is Free.

The Father’s Day Points weekend at the Drag Strip also runs Saturday and Sunday.

Gates open for spectators on Saturday at 11 a.m, and Sunday at 9 a.m.

Saturday is the Mark Hanna Memorial at Medicine Hat Speedway. It features V6, Hobby and Street Stocks races. Tech opens at noon. Hot laps start at 1 p.m. Races are underway at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 with discounts for youth and seniors.

♣️ Game Night at the Kiwanis!

FRIDAY

The Kiwanis Centre hosts “Game Night at the Kiwanis!” every first and third Friday of the month.

Bring your board games, card games, or other tabletop games and enjoy the space to play.

If you bring only yourself, you can play one of the games kept in the centre or join in with someone else.

Entry is $5, with cans of pop and bags of chips available for $1.

Participants under 16 years of age are required to have a parent or a guardian present.

All funds stay with the Gas City Kiwanis Centre to help keep things running and in good repair.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 826 11th St. SE in Medicine Hat.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks Baseball

FRIDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host the Fort McMurray Giants for the final time this season on Friday.

The Mavs will be wearing special Baby Spreys jerseys for the game.

First pitch is at 6:45 p.m.

🎻 Canadian Fiddle Champion Scott Wood

FRIDAY

Canadian Fiddle Champion Scott Woods brings Fiddle Country to the Monarch Theatre stage on Friday.

His band includes champion fiddler Kendra Norris, guitarist Steve Piticco, and champion stepdancer Leo Stock.

Doors open at 6 p.m, the show starts at 7 p.m., and is expected to run until 9 p.m.

Tickets are available online. Seating is first-come, first-served.

A cash concession will be available.

🚒 Big Truck Day at Medicine Hat Public Library

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Public Library’s second Big Truck Day is set for Saturday at Co-op Place, moving to a larger venue due to strong community interest in last year’s debut event.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is expected to feature about 30 large vehicles and machines, including cement and electrical trucks, city vehicles, a bus, cranes and the HALO helicopter, roughly double the number from last year.

Big Truck Day is designed for kids and families to explore the vehicles up close, climb inside, and learn about the work they do.

This year’s event also includes expanded children’s activities such as pedal tractors and face painting, along with a free barbecue and Kona Ice onsite.

Organizers say the event is meant to be an interactive, hands-on experience for the community, with support from local partners and sponsors.

🏅 Special Olympics Volunteer Rally

SATURDAY

Volunteer recruitment continues in Medicine Hat ahead of the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games, with a rally planned this weekend at Co-op Place.

The event runs Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to help residents learn about available roles and how to get involved.

Volunteers will be essential to the success of the Games, which are being promoted under the theme “We Shine Together.”

Registration is online on the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games website, where volunteers can select shifts and complete required attestation forms.

All volunteers must also complete Safe Sport training before taking part in the national event.

🏠 Ewart Duggan House Open Days

SATURDAY

Two Saturdays remain for the Ewart Duggan House Open Days. It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. with an open House at the historic Ewart-Duggan Residence, a preserved 19th-century home nestled in the heart of Medicine Hat near the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre. You can explore the residence and immerse yourself in the stories of those who once lived here through hands-on, heritage-inspired activities.

There is no registration required.

🥍️ Badlands Sun Devils Lacrosse

SATURDAY

The Badlands Sun Devils Jr. B Lacrosse Club hosts the Rockyview Rage Tier II team on Saturday at the Kinplex Arena.

The game starts at 5:30 p.m.

Admission is free, and there will be a 50/50 draw on site.

🚶 Father in Nature at the Interpretive Centre

SUNDAY

A free Interpretive Program walk is set for 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Father’s Day Sunday, focusing on family dynamics in the wild and the behaviours of animals commonly seen around Medicine Hat.

The program will explore how animals, like humans, rely on family structures, while also highlighting the wide range of “father” roles in nature—from attentive caregivers to more absent examples.

Participants will meet at the front patio of the Medicine Hat Interpretive Nature Centre before the walk begins.

Organizers say the family-friendly program is designed to be engaging and educational, offering insight into local wildlife behaviour.

The event is free to attend, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

🪘 National Indigenous Peoples Day

SUNDAY

A National Indigenous Peoples Day celebration is being hosted by the Firekeepers Women’s Society on Sunday.

It will take place at Riverside Veterans’ Memorial Park from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the celebration. It will include an opening by Elder Warren One Gun from the Siksika Nation, followed by local drumming, singing, dancing, storytelling, and more.
