Here is what’s on in Medicine Hat this weekend: June 12-14

The second weekend of June is here, and after some potential early rain on Friday, it looks like the rest of the weekend could be clear.

Environment Canada’s forecast for Friday is mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance in the early afternoon and a high of 17 C. In the evening, partly cloudy with a low of 8 C.

Saturday’s forecast is a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 21 C, a clear evening sky and a low of 8 C.

On Sunday, sunny during the day and clear during the evening, with a high of 25 C, and a low of 9 C.

🚜 Cypress Farm and Ranch Show and Marketplace

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Cypress Farm and Ranch Show runs on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cypress Centre on the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.

Showcasing agricultural equipment, services, rural lifestyle exhibitors, and guest speakers at the event.

Admission is $10 for those 16 and older, but is included if you show your tickets for the World Professional Chuckwagon Races.

The show portion ends on Friday.

The Marketplace continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission.

🥍️ LAX to the MAX and Badlands Sun Devils Jr. B Lacrosse

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The annual LAX to the MAX Lacrosse tournament in Medicine Hat starts Friday at 2 p.m. at three locations, Kinplex Arena One and Two, and the Hockey Hounds Rec Centre.

Teams from five age groups, U9 to U17, will compete through the weekend at the three facilities.

The Badlands Sun Devils Jr. B Lacrosse team will also be hosting the undefeated Southern Alberta Chaos out of Taber for a Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League game on Saturday.

Start time is at 8 p.m. at the Kinplex One Arena.

Admission is free for the Junior B game, and there will be a 50/50 during the contest.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

FRIDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks and Energy City Cactus Rats will play a doubleheader at Athletic Park on Friday, starting with the first game at 5 p.m. and the regularly scheduled game to follow.

Thursday’s game between the Mavs and Cactus Rats was postponed due to rain, setting up the doubleheader.

Friday is also the Bark in the Park game. It allows fans to bring their dog to the ballpark by signing a waiver.

🏁 Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association Races

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association hosts Power to the Pavement this weekend at the drag strip. It includes the Friday Night Street Legals.

Gates open on Friday at 5 p.m. with Tech from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Time Trials are at 7 p.m. Eliminations begin at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, gates open to spectators at 9 a.m., tech begins at 8 a.m., Cruise is at 10 a.m., and racing starts at noon.

Admission is $20 per person per day.

🐴 Feature art show by Evelyn Klies

FRIDAY

The Art Room on 2nd presents an art show by Evelyn Klies with her collection, To Honour the Horse.

The opening night is Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with an artist talk at 7 p.m.

The collection spans the past twenty years and reflects an evolving relationship with the horse as subject.

It’s located at 621 2nd St SE in downtown Medicine Hat.

🎸 Alternative Waves Music Festival

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

Alternative Waves Music Festival is back in Medicine Hat for another year on Friday and Saturday at the Mainliner Pub.

Featuring a blend of alternative, punk, metal, and rock music.

It has both an indoor and an outdoor stage set up.

Friday’s shows begin at 5:25 p.m. with Playverb and conclude with the headliner Ignite starting at 11 p.m.

Saturday’s shows start at 4:15 p.m. with Deformitys and end with a performance by Black Pestilence underway at 11:15 p.m.

🏇 World Professional Chuckwagon Races

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association is in Medicine Hat this weekend.

Races started on Thursday at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede grounds and continue until Sunday.

Friday and Saturday’s races start at 7 p.m.

The event concludes on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Dash for Cash, featuring the three fastest wagons from the weekend.

Presley Battle and Penthouse Trauma play a rock show at Note: comfort food and drink in downtown Medicine Hat on Friday night.

🚤 Western Canadian Watercross 2026 Racing Series

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Western Canadian Watercross 2026 Racing Series is on Rattlesnake Lake at Golden Sheaf Regional Park west of Medicine Hat this weekend.

Round one is on Saturday and Round two is on Sunday.

Each day starts with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a riders meeting at 9:30 a.m. and practice at 10 a.m.

The first heats will start at 11 a.m. with results and awards at 6 p.m.

🚶 Interpretive Centre Walks

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program hosts an interactive nature walk at Red Rock Coulee on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. You will explore the variety of plants and animals native to this area and its origins during a guided tour with an interpreter. Registration is required, and parking is limited. Visitors are strongly encouraged to bring sturdy footwear, water, and appropriate sun protection. Call 403-529-6225 or email info@mhip.ca to register for the event. Attendees will meet the interpreter by the Red Rock Coulee sign in the parking area.

The Medicine Hat Biodiversity Challenge hosts a guided nature walk Saturday at Police Point Park from 10 a.m. to noon. While walking and looking for wildlife to photograph, there will be a discussion on using the free, easy-to-use app iNaturalist to contribute to this and other citizen science initiatives. 📕 Events at the Library

SATURDAY

Several events take place at the Medicine Hat Public Library on Saturday morning.

Read to Darby goes from 10 a.m. to noon. Darby the dog is joined by Melissa, a certified Pet Partners Therapy Team. Darby enjoys listening to stories and making new friends. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or other adult caregiver during their visit with Darby.

Find your Family Tree is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You can sign up for a one-on-one session with a Library Staff Member to learn how to use the Library edition of Ancestry and FamilySearch. Staff will demonstrate how the program works and provide some time for you to practice using it. Online registration is required at www.mhpl.info/register.

Whether you are a Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast or just a beginner, all are welcome to the new series. Registrants are required to attend both sessions. Premade characters and dice will be available to all players, or you are invited to bring in your own level 1 character. The event is in partnership with Pop Up Parks. It runs from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Online registration is required at www.mhpl.info/register

A peer support group run by neurodivergent young adults, with support from the Medicine Hat Autism Society, takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is a safe place for neurodivergent young adults who are autistic, have ADHD, and more to visit and learn about resources that may be available to them.

🎸 TAYLOR: A Tribute to the Eras of Taylor Swift

SATURDAY

The unofficial tribute show – Taylor: A tribute to the Eras of Taylor Swift Music takes to the stage at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre on Saturday at 2 p.m.

This show will include over 20 of Taylor’s biggest hits performed live by singer Josette.

The event is not endorsed by or affiliated with TAS Rights Management.

🎸 Tyson Ray Borsboom Album Release Tour

Tyson Ray Borsboom bring his Western Canada tour to Local in downtown Medicine Hat for a night of folk and country music.

The album release tour has a sound that blends country roots with indie and alt influences.

The show starts Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

🍔 Last Sunday Food truck and Market Frenzy at Kin Coulee Park

Sunday

The last Sunday Food truck and Market Frenzy of the season takes place at Kin Coulee Park.

Beyond the food trucks, organizers say there will be a sensory bus, market vendors and llamas.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

🎸 The Stampeders at the Esplanade

SUNDAY

The Stampeders… One More Time is at the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre on Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

The Canadian rock band from the 1970’s will perform their classic songs Wild Eyes, Carry Me, Oh My Lady, Devil You, Ramona, Minstrel Gypsy, Hit the Road Jack, and Sweet City Woman.
