Fire at Medicine Hat home on Tuesday sends women to hospital in critical condition

A resident was rescued from a fire at a home in the 4000 block of 13th Avenue Southeast on Tuesday and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Fire crews were dispatched to the residential structure fire at about 7:47 p.m. after reports that an individual was trapped inside.

Upon arrival, firefighters quickly entered the structure, located the occupant, and removed her from the building. She was then turned over to EMS and transported to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
