Brooks Bandits now one win away from second-straight BCHL title

May 21, 2026 | 8:41 AM

The Brooks Bandits have won three straight overtime games in the BCHL finals and are now a win away from defending their title.

Forward Harry Ahlberg scored the winner with only 11 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, lifting the Bandits to a 2-1 win over the Clippers in Nanaimo on Wednesday.

Linemates Issac Johnson and Tuesday’s overtime goal scorer Jack Rosensteel drew assists on the winning goal.

Bandits goaltender Zach Zahara was sharp again with 43 saves and was named the first star of the game for the third consecutive time.

Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau had a strong showing in the Clippers loss, turning aside 37 of 49 shots.

Forward Mathis Dufour scored the only goal in the first period for the Bandits. It came at 14:17 into the game, with assists going to Jack Good and Liam Fitzpatrick.

The Clippers tied the game late in the second at the 17:04 mark. A power play goal from forward Charles Beland, who scored his playoff-leading 14th.

The Bandits are now up 3-1 in the best-of-seven series and will look to hoist the Rogers BCHL Cup with a home win Friday night in Brooks.

Something they did on the road last year with a game six win over the Chiefs in Chilliwack during the 2025 BCHL finals.

Puck drop at the Centennial Regional Arena will be at 7 p.m. on Friday.
