Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce

First State of the Region address to take place on Thursday in Medicine Hat

May 13, 2026 | 6:36 PM

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce will bring municipal leaders together on Thursday for its first State of the Region address, a new event aimed at giving the business community a consolidated look at local priorities across the Medicine Hat–Cypress corridor.

The gathering runs from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Beveridge Landmark Events in downtown Medicine Hat.

The program will feature Mayor Linnsie Clark, Cypress County Mayor Dan Hamilton, and Redcliff Mayor Chris Czember, who are each expected to outline current municipal priorities following their most recent strategic planning cycles.

The town hall-style event expands on the Chamber’s previous State of the City format by widening the focus to include multiple municipalities, reflecting what organizers describe as the increasing regional nature of economic and infrastructure planning in Southeast Alberta.

Rather than a single-community update, the session is intended to give attendees a side-by-side view of how neighbouring councils are approaching growth, services and investment decisions heading into the current council term.

Organizers say the timing follows recent strategic planning work completed by each council earlier this year, offering a snapshot of priorities as municipalities move into implementation phases.

The Chamber says the event is designed primarily for business and community leaders looking to better understand how regional decisions may intersect in areas such as development, workforce needs and long-term planning.

Doors open ahead of the midday program at 8:30 a.m. for networking opportunities.
