Esplanade in Medicine Hat opens three solo exhibitions by Canadian artists
The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre is showcasing three solo exhibitions for the public to view this spring and summer, featuring works by Canadian artists Caprice Hogg, Heather Shillinglaw and Adrianne Williams.
A public reception celebrating the artists is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 9.
Xanthe Isbister, curator of the Esplanade’s galleries and collections, said the exhibitions explore themes including landscape, memory, lineage and land-based knowledge, while encouraging visitors to reflect on how personal and collective histories shape identity and perspectives on the world.
Hogg’s exhibition, Time After Time: Landscape Oil Paintings, features works inspired by southern Alberta and Western Canada, drawing on memory, light and personal experiences connected to the land.
