Medicine Hat Tigers aim to sweep home and home against Edmonton Oil Kings

Jan 16, 2026 | 1:34 PM

Riding a franchise high 18-game winning streak, the Medicine Hat Tigers begin a three-game home stand tonight as they conclude a home-and-home with the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The two clubs met inside Rogers Place on Wednesday night, where the Tigers gutted out a 3-2 shootout victory over the Oil Kings.

Jordan Switzer was fantastic between the pipes for the Tigers in the win, making several highlight reel saves and turning aside 37 of 39 shots against his hometown team.

Tigers defenseman Jonas Woo extended his point streak to 16 games after scoring his third shorthanded goal of the season to tie the game at two late in the second period on Wednesday night.

Woo, who announced his commitment to play at Arizona State University for the 2026-27 season, has 34 points over his 16-game point streak and is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals.

Another Tiger to keep an eye out for is Kade Stengrim.

Having had just 11 points through his first 32 games this season, Stengrim has found his stride offensively.

Through his last seven games, the Brainerd, MN, native has nine points over that span, with points in every game.

Medicine Hat will be without Yaroslav Bryzgalov and Ethan Neutens for tonight’s tilt, with both players serving suspensions.

Bryzgalov is serving the third game of a four-game suspension, while the duration of Neutens suspension is yet to be determined.

Puck drop from inside Co-op Place is slated for 7:00 p.m. MST, and the pre-game show gets rolling at 6:30 on WILD 94.5 FM.
