Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Jonas Woo named WHL Player of the Week

Fresh off a six-point weekend, Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Jonas Woo has been named this week’s Western Hockey League Player of the Week.

Woo is the second Tigers defenseman to be named Player of the Week this month, with Bryce Pickford receiving the honour back on December 8th, 2025, and the third Tiger this season, with Liam Ruck being recognized on November 17th.

The product of Winnipeg, MB, sits second amongst WHL defencemen in points with 46, two behind his teammate Bryce Pickford, and has the sixth most points amongst all WHL skaters.

Jonas was involved in every Tigers goal Saturday in the club’s 5-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes before also adding an assist Sunday afternoon in a 7-4 win against the Red Deer Rebels.

“Jonas has been great for us all year. His consistency is what really stands out,” said Tigers Associate Coach Joe Frazer.

“Every night he brings speed, skill and high compete as a leader to our team. It’s great to see him get recognized by the league for that,” he added.

The Tigers are riding a 12-game win streak that they put on the line tonight against the Red Deer Rebels.

With a win, the Tigers would secure their longest winning streak since 2007.
