Dec 2, 2025 | 8:26 AM

The Western Canadian Baseball League released its 2026 season schedule on Monday.

A 56-game regular season begins for the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Thursday, May 28, as they host the 2025 WCBL champion Regina Red Sox at Athletic Park.

The nearby Brooks Bombers will start the season on the road in Lethbridge against the Bulls, as part of five games on opening night.

On Friday, May 29, the Mavs will travel down the Trans Canada Highway for their first of two meetings this season with the Bombers at Elks Field in Brooks.

The only other meeting between the two teams is on Father’s Day in Brooks on June 21.

A road trip to Moose Jaw will be on the Mavs’ slate for Canada Day as they take on the Miller Express on Wednesday, July 1.

All-Star Weekend moves from Okotoks to Saskatoon this year, where the Berries will host the top players from around the WCBL on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19.

The WCBL All-Star Game and Home Run Derby has traditionally been played in a single day, but in cooperation with the WCBL, the Berries will host the league’s first-ever two-day event.

The regular season concludes on Wednesday, Aug. 5, for the Mavs, on the road against the Swift Current 57s.

Playoffs start with the Conference Semifinals from Friday, Aug. 7, through Sunday, Aug. 9.

The Conference Finals will be played on Tuesday, Aug. 11, through Thursday, Aug. 13.

Finals are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15, through Monday, Aug. 17.

“We cannot wait to see the best fans in baseball return to our ballpark,” he added.

“The WCBL schedule is a collaboration of our twelve franchises working together to provide exciting, family-friendly entertainment throughout the summer. They meticulously look to secure dates for their many promotions and events, which fans have come to love throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan.”

The season schedule news release is available on the WCBL website.
