The Mustard Seed in Medicine Hat seeks help to provide winter support meals for Giving Tuesday

Dec 1, 2025 | 12:55 PM

The Mustard Seed for this Giving Tuesday is inviting the community to help provide 200,000 meals to individuals and families in Medicine Hat and across Western Canada who are facing hunger.

Donations made before midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, will be eligible to be matched with the support from the Arnie J. Charbonneau Foundation, helping generosity go twice as far.

Donations can be made at The Mustard Seed’s website.

Due to the closure of the Allowance Avenue Community Impact Centre, the Mustard Seed has transitioned its programs in Medicine Hat to a mobile service model.

The service brings food, essential items, and support directly to people where they are, while continuing to serve meals at the 8th Street Shelter.

Supporting local Giving Tuesday will help sustain:

  • Mobile meal distribution throughout the community
  • Warm, nutritious meals served daily at the 8th Street Shelter
  • Delivery of essential winter clothing and hygiene items
  • Continued outreach support for individuals impacted by the CIC closure

Dave Conrad, Senior Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement, said in a statement that even through major transitions, our commitment to Medicine Hat has remained strong.

Conrad also said the mobile teams and shelter staff continue to ensure people receive nourishing meals and compassionate support exactly where it’s needed most.
